My grandfather, Theodore "Ted" Liaros, started with a horse-drawn hot dog cart in 1927 on Buffalo's West Side. When he bought a small sandwich shack at the foot of Massachusetts Avenue and converted it into his first hot dog stand, he simply wanted to serve delicious food, cooked to order, in a clean and friendly atmosphere. My father, Spiro Liaros, remembers working at that first location and selling a hot dog and a drink for 22 cents. These days, it's wonderful to see my daughter Bailey following in his footsteps. While the days of the 22-cent lunch may be long gone, our commitment to quality, value and family remain strong. For more than 80 years, as our restaurants and our family have expanded, the Liaros family has stayed true to my grandfather's vision. We are proud that eating at Ted's has become a Western New York tradition for generations past and present, and we look forward to introducing Ted's to many future generations – including my grandson, the fifth generation of Ted's, Ty Theodore Nichols. From our family to yours,
Theodore Liaros |
